Observational drawings are a great way to go! Watch out about getting too focused on the “nouns” (shirt sleeves, hoodies, clothing, etc.). Look for the adjectives (descriptions) and the verbs (actions). All of the current drawings are vertical (you need to find the pose–which side is holding the weight).
Look at Steve Umbleby’s website
See how he approaches gestures. Draw more gestures but spend time studying the pose (draw the same person more than once–look for subtleties).
